School History

Kindon State School was opened by E.J Beardmore (Member for Balonne) in 1963 who explained to the gathering, " Here in this little school is the real wealth of your district - for education is a priceless asset."   

The school building was originally the Haslemere State School at Cecil Plains. The land had been owned by Mr Bob Anderson  (David Anderson's father).   In 1961 Haslemere State School closed and the building was later hauled overland and set up at Kindon.

The school opened with 25 pupils under the instruction of Mr. Bob Harding.
